the salvation i want: psalm 20

The salvation I want
Is to not need saving.

To dwell with serenity,
Even in the land of the enemy.

Our prayers are our powers.
Our religion our redemption.

To look on the world,
And all that is in it,
And seeing no enemy, say,
"Blessed is the mention of your glorious Kingship, forever."

שם אלוקי יעקב...(תהילים כ:ב)

The name of the God of Jacob (Psalms 20:2).

~~~
This chapter relates the prayers of a people who don't want to call on the weapons of war, but on the name of God, the God of Jacob. Jacob is our patriarch who most wanted calm and serenity to be free to worship. He found that in the last years of his life, in Egypt. He is also the one, according to tradition, who first said, "Blessed is the name of your glorious Kingship, forever and ever."
