when i think about a stronghold: psalm 31
When I think about a stronghold,
I think about all the things I just can't hold.
A little girl holding her pacifier and bunny,
A radiant smile and brand-new backpack.
A knee scraped sun kissed girl flying on her bike.
A radiant bride standing next to her soon-to-be husband.
I love the past.
And I yearn for the future.
My great (great?) grand-children,
The messiah's hand,
Or even just hold and comfort
My children,
After I've finally closed my eyes,
To tell them I love them,
And to forgive me.
But You. You I can hold forever.
